You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul. Brother Louie, Louie, Louie. Cheri, Cheri, Lady. For millions of Persians around the world, these iconic songs have been etched in our memories courtesy of the euro pop music of the Modern Talking Band. When I started DJing in 1997 I could always count on loud screams on the dance floor whenever we would play their songs. To this day, these timeless songs just hit different when I hear them. Coincidentally, I was born and raised in the same hometown as Thomas Anders in the super small town of Koblenz, Germany. As I share in this episode of AWESOME People, I still remember seeing him up close around 1987 at Brustolon Ice Cream shop, which is where I used to clean ash trays in exchange for free ice cream. At the time, he was one of the most popular artists on the planet, so that remains a special childhood memory for me. Fast forward exactly 30 years later and in 2017 I introduced Thomas on stage in my other hometown of Washington DC at Constitution Hall. From that night on, and thanks to my dear friend Vahe who gave me this opportunity, I have hosted all the shows of his US and Canada Tours. After many shows together and throughout the years, I’ve truly admired Thomas for his humility. I’ve also appreciated his love for Persians, one of his biggest and most devoted of fan bases. I’ve been exclusively (and intentionally) having only Persians as guests on my podcast with the intention of uniting our community, but Thomas was a special exception. Not only because of our connection to Koblenz but because Modern Talking has become an integral and nostalgic part of our culture. F Although many of you have heard of his songs, most of you probably have never really gotten to know Thomas. This is why I was looking forward to having this conversation with him and I hope you enjoy getting to know this humble legendary international music icon. If you would like to see him perform live, here are the dates for the 2022 USA Modern Talking Tour that I have the pleasure of hosting: August 11 | Chicago August 12 | New Jersey August 13 | New York August 14 | Boston August 18 | Houston August 19 | San Jose August 20 and 21 | Los Angeles For more info or tickets: www.ThomasAndersUSA.com Keep the faith, Iman Follow us on Instagram: @imanhuschmand @thomasanders_official @letsuniteandconquer Welcome to the conversation.
