Subject of Email: Please be the voice of Iranian people
The Honourable Melanie Joly,
My name is (your first and last name) and I reside in (your province).
As you may know, the largest anti-government protest is happening in all the cities in IRAN and spreading to more than 140 countries worldwide.
I am contacting you to raise the issue and ask you to support Iranian women fighting against discrimination.
A few weeks ago, a young woman, Mahsa Amini, 22 years old only, was killed in the custody of the Iranian Regime’s “Morality Police.”
Since then, Iranians have taken to the streets to protest the death of Mahsa Amini in defiance of a warning from the judiciary.
The Iranian government has cut off access to the Internet for its 80 million citizens. Access to the Internet is a way to communicate with the world to see and hear us. Internet access continued to be disrupted or entirely blocked, affecting Iranians’ ability to communicate with one another and the outside world. News from Iran has trickled out with many hours of delay.
Also, a few days after the protest began, the Islamic regime started using fully armed children in the streets against protesters. Under international law, it is a war crime to enlist, conscript, or use children under 15 actively in hostilities, whether in a conflict between states or armed groups and/or state forces.
People are killed every day, activists, journalists and now even artists and athletes are arrested due to support for the protest.
We are fighting for our freedom and liberty. We want our country back and expect Canadian politicians not to engage in direct or indirect talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This movement is not about religion or wearing/not wearing the Hijab, but about being treated as a human with human rights. The recent event is just a reminder of what has been happening in Iran for decades. It is frustrating not to be capable of helping the people of Iran from outside the country. So, this is the time when we need to unite and be their voice.
We need more awareness about this tragic event happening in Iran these days.
At this very moment, We, the Iranian residents, expect you to support these brave souls.
Please stand with us and help to amplify their voice!
-
Support the people of Iran by being vocal. Any public condemnation is heartwarming for those on the streets.
-
Direct the companies and influencers to support infrastructure to have free access to the internet in Iran.
-
Ensure the employees of diplomatic missions of Iran are not harassing any Canadian resident/citizen by recording information about an identifiable individual and allocating it to the Iranian government.
-
Instruct the Canadian Government not to engage in any direct or indirect talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran if they continue to treat the people of Iran in an inhumane manner.
-
Request the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to reconsider the visas issued for those close to the Iranian regime.
-
Expel Family members of Iranian officials supporting the violence back home. By extraditing them to Iran, the Iranian governors will know Canada would not be a place for them to hide.
-
Designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Please rest assured that your support will be significant for the people of Iran and human rights worldwide.
Sincerely,
